AGAIN, WE HAD OUR TEXAS TREASURERS THIS YEAR, AND FOR MANY OF THE AUDIENCE WHO MIGHT NOT BE AWARE, TEXAS TREASURES IS A RECOGNITION THAT IS THROUGH OUT TEXAS, AND WE HONOR BUSINESSES THAT ARE OVER 50 YEARS OLD THAT ARE IN THE SAME STANDING.

UM, SO WE WERE REAL THRILLED THAT WE HAD TWO OUTSTANDING BUSINESSES.

AND WE'LL START FIRST, AS YOU MENTIONED, WITH DAVIS PHARMACY.

AND WE HAVE, UH, THE OWNERS OF DAVIS PHARMACY OR CITY PHARMACY HERE IN THE AUDIENCE.

WE HAVE BRANDY CHAIN AND CHA, UH, LEE CHAIN HERE.

AND, UM, IF YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ASHLEY, UH, THE BUILDING, UM, IS, WAS RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN PHARMACEUTICAL ASSOCIATION AS THE OLDEST STANDING PHARMACY IN THE UNITED STATES.

AND, UH, THE PHARMACY, ACTUALLY, IT WAS A PHARMACY IN 1892, OF COURSE, ACROSS THE, ON THE SQUARE OFF OF TRINITY.

AND MANY OF US KNOW AND LOVE SO MUCH, GERALD DAVIS.

GERALD WAS A WORLD WARI HERO.

AND HIS, HE AND HIS BEAUTIFUL WIFE MARGARET MOVED HERE AND HE STARTED THE PHARMACY IN 1948.

IN FACT, HE WAS A P O W.

HE LOST ONE OF HIS LEGS IN THE WAR, AN INCREDIBLE UT FAN.

WE USED TO HAVE BUSES THAT WOULD GO TO AUSTIN EVERY WEEKEND, PARKED RIGHT OVER THERE BY THE PHARMACY.

WE'D LOAD EVERYBODY UP.

AND THEN, UH, IN 1963, JIM COLEMAN, UH, NEW GRADUATE OF UT PHARMACEUTICAL SCHOOL, CAME AND JOINED GERALD, AND HE WAS MADE A PARTNER IN 1966.

UH, GERALD PASSED AWAY AT THE AGE OF 77, UM, EARLIER IN THE YEAR IN LIKE, I THINK ABOUT 1980.

AND JIM CONTINUED THE PHARMACY AND HE WAS RECOGNIZED FOR 50 YEARS BY THE TEXAS PHARMACEUTICAL ASSOCIATION.

UM, IT IS A FIXTURE IN PARKER COUNTY, AND I'M SO GLAD THAT THE LADIES NOW HAVE A OLD FASHIONED SODA PARLOR THERE.

SO AFTER Y'ALL CONVENE WITH COURT, YOU CAN RUN OVER THERE AND GET YOUR COKE FLOW.

THEY'VE GOT FRITO PIES WAITING FOR YOU AND HOMEMADE PANINI SANDWICHES.

SO, UH, YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO DOWN SOUTH.

MAGNIFY THE TRAFFIC, YOU'VE GOT IT RIGHT OVER HERE.

BUT WE ARE SO THRILLED BECAUSE, UH, BRANDY, AS A LITTLE GIRL GREW UP THERE BECAUSE HER PRECIOUS MOTHER NELDA HAS BEEN WITH THE PHARMACY OVER 50 YEARS HERSELF.

SO IT IS A TRUE FAMILY OPERATION.

AND SO IT WAS REALLY A, AN HONOR THAT WE RECOGNIZED THEM WITH TEXAS TREASURES.

AND THE SECOND RECIPIENT WE HAVE IS SOMEONE, I THINK JOHN FORREST.

YOU KNOW THIS FAMILY WELL, YOU MIGHT WANNA DO THE INTRODUCTION OR DO YOU WANT ME TO DO IT? GO AHEAD AND DO IT.

WELL, JOHN, UH, FORREST FELL IN LOVE WITH A YOUNG LADY, UH, ERICA MANY YEARS AGO, AND SHE IS PART OF THE GREEN FAMILY.

AND THE GREENS FLORES BEGAN 70 YEARS AGO WHEN A BEAUTY SHOP OWNER, WILMA HART GREEN, WENT TO THE WELDONS SCHOOL OF FLORAL DESIGN AND EARNED A REALLY GREAT CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION BECAUSE IT IS SUCH A WONDERFUL FLORIST.

AND THROUGH THE YEARS, I MEAN, SOME OF THE MOST EX EXCLUSIVE ARRANGEMENTS, WEDDINGS, FLOWERS, FUNERALS, PROMS, HAVE COME FROM THEIR BEAUTIFUL, UH, GREENS FLORIST, UH, WILMAN, HER HUSBAND JOE OPERATED THE FLORIST SHOP AND THEIR HOME ON HANOVER.

AND, UH, THE BUSINESS FLOURISHED.

AND IN 1961, THEY BUILT THE LOVELY BUILDING THEY'RE IN NOW TODAY ON NORTH MAIN STREET.

AND WILMA'S SONS, JOE BOBBY MANAGED IT, UH, FROM 1963 UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1998.

TODAY UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF BOBBY'S WIFE, HARLENE AND DAUGHTERS, DANTE GREEN, UM, DENNIS, UH, UH, KEN DENNIS', LOVELY WIFE.

AND ERICA GREEN FOREST, WHICH JOHN KNOWS VERY WELL, IS HIS BEAUTIFUL WIFE.

THE BUSINESS HAS BLOSSOMED, I'LL LOVE THAT ONE, UH, INTO A COMMUNITY ASSET WHICH MAINTAINS A FRIENDLY SMALL TOWN FLAVOR.

AND IT'S REALLY AN HONOR FOR ME TO PRESENT THIS BECAUSE YOU'RE MY FLORIST AND YOU'RE MY PHARMACY AND HAS BEEN WITH OUR FAMILY SINCE I WAS BEFORE I WAS BORN.

MARK CUBANS COST PLUS DRUGS, WHICH IS FANTASTIC, ESPECIALLY FOR OUR PEOPLE IN OUR COUNTY THAT DON'T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE.

SO WE'VE PARTNERED WITH THEM TO MAKE MEDICATIONS AFFORDABLE, AND WE STRIVE TO JUST CONTINUE TO BE TRAILBLAZERS IN OUR INDUSTRY.

AND SO, UM, WE GOT THREE BIDS AND YOU CAN SEE THE, WE RECOMMEND WE GO WITH CROSSROADS, WHICH THIS IS ESTIMATED ON, UH, FIVE MONTHS.

WE BELIEVE THE, THE LOOP WILL BE OPEN BEFORE, BUT THIS BASICALLY CARRIES US THROUGH THE END OF NOVEMBER.

IN THE EVENT WE'LL NEED THAT.

UH, SO ONE OF THE ELEMENTS OF THIS CHANGE ORDER IS TO CLEAN OUT THAT CULVERT AND THEN WE'RE ACTUALLY PROPOSING TO PUT EVERYTHING UNDERGROUND RIGHT AT THAT LOCATION.

INSTEAD OF HAVING LIKE OUR OUTFALL AND THEN 20 FEET AWAY HAVE A CULVERT, WE'RE JUST GONNA PUT A JUNCTION BOX.

SO ALL THAT DRAINAGE WILL GO FROM THE LOOP ACROSS 51 AND IT'LL BE A MUCH, UH, CLEANER.

WE WON'T HAVE TO HAVE ANY GUARDRAIL ON THAT CORNER.

THE OTHER VENDOR DID NOT QUOTE A HOT MIX COST, BUT THEY DID QUOTE A COST OF 85, WHICH IS THE SAME AS THE FIRST VENDOR FOR THE CHIP SEAL.

AND THEN THE THIRD VENDOR QUOTED A HUNDRED, BUT DID NOT SPECIFY IF IT WAS CHIP SEAL OR HOT MIX.
