WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR US? IT MEANS THAT, NUMBER ONE, I WOULD ENCOURAGE EVERYONE HERE TO INVESTIGATE WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT.
THERE WAS A GREAT ARTICLE IN THE TEXAS TRIBUNE RECENTLY THAT JUST CAME OUT ABOUT HIS WATER SUPPLY IDEAS, SUPPORT IT.
I WOULD SAY THAT WE CAN'T STOP OUR CURRENT EFFORTS.
I KNOW THAT THE HYDROLOGY 2050 COMMITTEE LED BY COMMISSIONER WALDEN IS TRYING TO POSITION THE COUNTY FOR OUR CURRENT NEEDS.
AND WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THAT.
MOST OF ALL, I WOULD SAY THAT WE NEED TO BE AN ACTIVE PARTNER WHEN THIS STATE PLAN COMES OUT.
THEY'RE GONNA LOOK FOR THOSE AREAS THAT ARE ON THEIR FRONT FOOT, WANTING TO BE AN ACTIVE PARTNER.
WE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO POSITION OURSELF FOR THAT, BECAUSE WE CAN'T RELY ON WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING.
WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.
UH, SENATOR PERRY WAS ON, UH, ON TV YESTERDAY ON LONE STAR POLITICS AND THE, UH, CHANNEL EIGHT.
AND, UH, HE PRETTY MUCH OUTLINED, UH, THAT WE HAVE TWO AND A HALF BILLION WITH A B DOLLARS RIGHT NOW, UH, IN THE UPCOMING BUDGET CYCLE FOR WATER INFRASTRUCTURE.
UM, WHAT COMMISSIONER IS TALKING ABOUT IS CENTRAL PERRY IS GONNA PROPOSE A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO BE VOTED ON IN NOVEMBER TO HAVE, UH, $1 BILLION DEDICATED TO WATER AND WATER INFRASTRUCTURE, UH, FROM NOW ON, PERHAPS TO BE RENEWED EVERY 10 YEARS.
BUT, UH, HE'S HOPING MORE THAN THE TWO AND A HALF.
HE'S HOPING THAT THE FINAL BUDGET WILL HAVE $5 BILLION IN IT.
AND, UM, HIS, HE GOES ON TO DISCUSS HIS PROPOSAL, AND THAT IS TO GET WATER FROM THE EAST, PERHAPS OUT OF STATE AND A PIPELINE SYSTEM THAT WILL BRING IT TO THE METROPLEX AND TO THE WICHITA FALLS AREA AS WELL.
AND, UH, WE NEED TO BE POSITIONED BY HAVING AN ENTITY CALLED PARKER COUNTY WATER DISTRICT TO RECEIVE THAT FUNDING.
AND I THINK THAT'S MOST CRITICAL THAT WE GET THAT DONE.
UH, HYDROLOGY 2050, OF COURSE, HAS, UH, HAS CONTRACTED WITH FRIES AND NICHOLS TO GET THAT WORDING OF THAT LEGISLATION TO US IN TIME FOR IT TO BE PASSED AS A LOCAL BILL THIS SESSION.
AND SO WE'RE, WE'RE ACTIVELY WORKING ON THAT.
